Default Abbey Rock 2004 Coonawarra Old School House Riesling

2004 Coonawarra "Old School House" Riesling

Wine: 2004 Coonawarra Old Schoolhouse RIESLING

Winemaker: Les Sampson

Vineyard: 100% of the grapes were specially selected from the Old Schoolhouse vineyard at Coonawarra, renowned for its cool climate and terra rossa soil.

Winery: The grapes were processed at the Great Stone winery, set below vineyard level in what was once a limestone quarry adjacent to the Schoolhouse vineyard.

Vintage: There was an ideal growing season leading up to 2004 vintage, with average temperatures and rainfall in winter and spring. Cool and dry conditions in January promoted slow ripening conditions, which continued despite warmer weather in February and March. The fruit produced during this long vintage was of very high quality.

Winemaking: Grapes were processed immediately after harvest at cool temperatures to maintain the fresh and crispy style with the wine maturating in stainless steel.

The wine is pale straw with green tinges in colour and an aroma of floral hints backed with a solid lime undertone. The palate is concentrated with delicate notes of lime and a crispy persistent mouth feel and finish.

Wine Analysis: Alcohol/Vol. 12.8%, pH: 3.14, TA 7.0 g/l. Res. sugar 4.0 g/l
