Penfolds 1954 Grange

The best wine that I ever had the pleasure of tasting was a 1954 Penfolds Grange that I tasted in 1994. (Shared between 4 people).
Whilst this was a 40 year old wine at the time it still could go another 5 years from the time that I tasted it - it was simply a superbly made wine with great tannins good fruit and still a small amount of acidity present.
Simply - the best wine that I have ever tasted!
I have tasted 40+ year old Granges since that time with the 1955, 1962 and 1963 being some of those, but the 1954 still stands above all others.
